Organ donation and Transplantation

Organ donation and Transplantation is one of the most remarkable medical success stories of this century.   Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Bathinda has got the approval from Govt of Punjab to start Liver Transplantation.

Today i.e 09.08.2019 the institution organized a Lecture in collaboration with MOHAN Foundation Chennai for awareness of organ donation amongst   the faculty staff and students. A team of Mohan Foundation (Northern India) chapter visited Adesh University. The team made a presentation highlighting the importance and procedure of organ donation and give the awareness.  They told that Vital organs like heart, liver, kidneys, intestines, lungs and pancreas can be donated in case of brain death. However, other tissues like corneas, heart valves, skin bones etc can be donated in natural death. Organ like Kidney, Liver can also be donated by living donor. One can be an organ donor by singing a donor card from any hospital and NGO. If a person has a donor card, it means that he/she is willing  to donate organs upon death. We should remember that in our country even if one has signed the donor card, it is important to have the consensus of the family while signing the donor card. The donor card should be kept by everyone in his wallet as a proof of his/her wish to donate organs upon death. Dr

GPI Singh, Vice Chancellor, Dr Gurpreet Singh Gill, Medical Supdt (Admn),  Col. Jagdev Singh (Retd.), Registrar, Dr G L Sharma, Principal, AIMSR, Dr Avtar Singh Bansal, Medical Supdt and Mr Kulwant Singh, Deputy Registrar were present
